Miss Blakelock

Miss Blakelock gained a Degree in English Literature from Sunderland University in 2017, and is currently studying to gain a Masters in Psychology. Before her time in education, Miss Blakelock worked in retail while studying at college and worked as a carer during her time at university.

Miss Blakelock's favourite thing about Evolve is: 'The students. They are the best thing about working in Evolve! They are very caring and polite and never fail to make you smile. I love to help with any struggles they may have, and nothing makes me happier than seeing them go home with a smile on their face. Evolve is such a caring and welcoming place and the staff are very dedicated to ensuring that everyone feels welcome and that any needs the children have are being met.'

Miss Blakelock loves to read anything and everything, she is into gaming and loves to travel to new places whenever she gets the chance.

Miss Blakelock’s favourite quote is: “Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.”

Mrs Jardine

Mrs Jardine gained her GCSE qualifications at Washington Comprehensive School, before leaving to work in the Civil Service. She later returned to college, where she gained qualifications in typing, as well as manicure and pedicure. Mrs Jardine has previously worked at Sandhill View and Carley Hill schools, where she worked with disability students, enabling them to attend gateway clubs, giving them access to after school activities or day centres. Before working in a school Mrs Jardine has for many years ran a security business with her husband and still does.

For Mrs Jardine, the best thing about working for Evolve is 'the knowledge you gain from being in such a close unit. It has been invaluable to me and taught me humility and patience and as each student is different with a variety of needs, it is very rewarding. We work hard as a team to ensure everyone who comes to Evolve leaves with confidence and an ability to look to the future with hope.'

Mrs Jardine loves dining out at restaurants, everything to do with Downton Abbey, biscuits and family.

Mrs Jardine's favourite quote is: “You're never too old to learn.”

Mrs Parkin

Mrs Parkin gained a Degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Sunderland in 2009. She then went onto complete Masters Degree in English in 2010. Mrs Parkin has worked for several schools in Sunderland, including the North East Autistic Society. Before working in education Mrs Parkin has worked in the community as a support worker and well as working in retail whilst studying at sixth form and university.

Mrs Parkin's favourite thing about working for Evolve is: 'The students and the staff! The students are friendly, caring, polite and have the best sense of humour. Working with the pupils in Evolve is incredibly rewarding, and I love coming to work every day! The staff in Evolve genuinely care for the wellbeing of each and every pupil. We are such a close-knit, dedicated team who work extremely hard to ensure the needs of our pupils are being met.'

Mrs Parkin loves going camping, everything Harry Potter, Disney or Marvel.

Mrs Parkin's Favourite quote is: “Never stop learning because life never stops teaching, believe you can, and you are already half way there.”

Alongside the dedicated staff above, we are also working with Thornhill Academy and their team to ensure we are providing high quality staffing for our students.
