Careers Week
We're excited to share information about our upcoming Careers Week.
Between Monday 11th and Friday 15th March, we've invited a range of professionals into school to speak with the students about their current job role. We've asked the professionals to share a typical day in their job, potential pathways students can take to get to that role (this is to try and reinforce the message that the choices they make now aren't permanent and paths may change direction as we progress through our working lives), and the skills required to carry out their role effectively. We've also given speakers the opportunity to bring along any practical activities related to their role that students can carry out if appropriate.
The sessions will take place during afternoon lessons throughout the week, and we have a range of speakers confirmed. These include a sports journalist, a GP, a dental surgeon, a communications manager, a police officer and a chemical engineer, we're hoping for confirmation from a cyber security expert too so we have a good selection!
We hope that these interactions will broaden our students' ambitions and show them the diverse pathways that they can follow when they leave us.
