Our dedicated headteacher Robert Bell said he felt “overwhelmed” after being presented with a national award by the city’s deputy mayor, Cllr Ehthesham Haque on what was ‘Thank a Teacher Day’ (Wednesday June 19).

Mr Bell was Principal at Consilium Evolve for four years, a school which provides alternative education for children who are struggling to access or cope with mainstream schooling, with many of the students experiencing emotionally based school avoidance. He has now taken on a new role as the Director of Inclusion across the Trust, supporting students, parents and our school communities on a national level.

Consilium Evolve is an Alternative Provision (AP) setting that supports students who have experienced disruption in their mainstream education. They have fantastic attendance rates, 86% average attendance compared to the mainstream figure of 18% and have previously appeared in a One Show feature showcasing their incredible work. Ofsted recently recognised use of the CENTURY platform as evidence of effective curriculum delivery and learner progress. We sat down with Head of School, Karyn Taylor, to hear about how the CENTURY platform is supporting them with their vision of adaptive teaching and learning.
