Curriculum Model
The curriculum and pedagogy at Consilium Evolve is rooted in our understanding of the knowledge and skills that our students need so that they can take advantage of the educational and life opportunities available to them. All staff at Evolve have high expectations of our students and believe that each young person can achieve well, despite their previous experiences or current circumstances.
Our students arrive at varying points in the school year, and in any year from Yr7 to Yr11, having had significant disruption to their education prior to joining us at Evolve. It is essential that we plan and sequence our curriculum creatively, so that we are able to respond to gaps in students’ learning as these emerge.
Students are on a dual roll with us in conjunction with their home school. It is not possible for a small academy like Evolve to deliver the range of courses and qualifications (especially at KS4) that all of the secondary provisions in Sunderland offer. Consequently, our curriculum is based on delivering a cross curricular approach along learning ‘pathways’. These are:
- Language, Communication and the Arts (LCA)
- STEM and Vocational learning (STEM-V)
- Society, Culture, Outdoor and Service Learning (SCOSL)
